FAQ

  • Why use me for your research?

I am a small business and I specialise in a more personalised research service. I take time to talk you through what I’ve found, and I do all the work myself. You won’t be sent to a call centre or be outsourced, it’s all my own work. I’ve been researching for over 20 years.

  • What information do I need to provide to begin research?

I ask for birth, marriage and death dates and places (where known) on parents and grandparents. I also ask if there are any myths or family stories which you’d like to have investigated. The more information I am provided with helps me find the right family.

  • Can I pay in instalments?

Yes, with research packages. However, Vouchers must be paid in full up front.

  • Do I have to pay in full before you begin research?

With research packages I ask for a minimum deposit of £20 and then ask for the remainder to be paid when the research is completed. As above Vouchers must be paid for in full at point of purchase.

  • I just want a brick wall solved, not a whole research package

That is what my hourly rate is for, I can undertake one off research whether to solve a brick wall or to visit a local archive to view a specific document.

  • You are based in the South West, but my family are from Yorkshire, can you still research my ancestry?

Yes, I can still research your ancestry for you. The majority of records are available regardless of where I am based in the country. I have also undertaken research projects in European countries. I can contact local archives in the region of your ancestry if we need them specifically.

  • How long does the research take?

Research projects can take from between 6- 12 weeks depending on the size of package requested, availability of resources and documents. And also, how many customers I have at that specific time.
